Caroline Heap, PhD

Dr. Caroline Heap has 20 years of experience in the field of vaccines and chemistry, manufacturing and control (CMC). She is an expert in virology assays, in particular cell-based and potency assays, and her primary focus is in vaccines and gene therapies.

In her current role as a senior scientist on the scientific affairs team, Caroline has a global role in working with clients to design and develop their CMC strategy. She provides scientific and technical guidance in virology across Labcorp Central Laboratory Services, Bioanalytical Services and BioCMC. She also focuses on innovation within the CMC department and develops assays for vaccine and gene therapy products.

Caroline obtained her PhD from the University of Warwick, working on a viral vector vaccine for HIV. Prior to joining Labcorp, she worked at the Health Protection Agency at Porton Down working on the inactivation of viruses.
